| How many would be interested in a rerun of todays trip? As run by Nokia, need to keep it to around 6 max vehicles, with the tender state of the lanes as seen today, and being able to keep up a good pace to cover the distance in a reasonable time. For guideance, the trip worked out 182miles from Methyr and back, and ran from 9am leaving Pontardawe and 5:30 finish at end of Strata Florida. | |

| Alan's UJ let go on the way to Tesco's, Neils rubber rear uj let go through the first lane. Rodderz, Hywel and myself plodded along, Rodderz steering arm got slightly bent so we called a few lanes, and headed straight to Strata few cock ups on the map and we ended up doing Strata the reverse way (not starting at the Abbey). Interesting to say the least, I got confused at the river crossing by the bombhole, chose the middle route up and got the disco beached, but rod to the rescue pulled me out, next the going up the bombhole, I'm starting to see the benefit of a defender or a bobtail disco, I couldnt get anywhere near to getting all four wheels on the rock face before i got beached on the towbar, yet alone getting up the fecker. Rod and Hywel of course made it up there no prob at all (bastards ), So i did the only thing I could and did a 20point turn and went down it instead, not to feel left out Next sections heading back up to the abbey where icy as hell. Ice was 3-4 inch thick in places. Some random family of 6odd + a baby and 2 dogs in a rescue defender (no other vehicles with them - Not a route I'd choose to do on my own), got stuck in the ice, but Rod to the rescue yet again reversed up the icy rock bank towing them. I think at this point he was just showing off Final sections of Strata, again icy as fook, had what felt like half a ton of ice chunks on my bonet clearing the way. then the final part down to the abbey, Rod's steering bar resembled a bananna. managed to winch the bugger back into shape to get home. All in all an eventfull but fun day! Pic's are uploading atm, will post them as soon as done. Oh and we made a once in a life time discovery of these weird genically modified i'll tempered mutated Icicles that were growing diagonally upwards - strange, but Rod ate one for good measure! It was apparantly very nice! | |

| great story mizzed, fair play it was a cracking day out. thanks again for winching my steering bar straight. i was starting to get worried when i realised we were about 100 miles from home and my wheels were pointing east and west respectably. after straightening tho the 90 drove better than it did since radyr, so i recon that's where the damage was originally done. oh yeh, and neil gutted for you mate, you should go the shop that sold you that, an get them to pay for ur petrol m8, that shouldn't be broken after 80 miles and 1 lane, scandalous........ one day we will start and finish a outing together, we must lol.... thanks again tho mizzed for navigating and everything, you did a excellent job - don't worry about taking a few wrong turns, those turns took us to some of the most breathtaking scenery I've ever seen, makes you realise what a beautiful country we actually live in. | |
