i heard that the sarn helen is opening soon i think it was end of may, but heard it's only open for a month.

anyone know about this ??

and is anyone going ??

hi its only open june, july and august, il get proper dates for you, and you can drive the 1st section between neath and banwyn, il be doing it. il let you no when

i spoke to neath and port talbot council last week and the bottom half is open 1st june for 3 months as rob says.i will be running a night run at 0001hrs on the 1st if anyone wants to tag along cheers andy

I am hoping to do a day run the day it opens.

Wouldn't mind tagging along myself. I'd need to meet up with someone somewhere, as although I've driven in before, I've always followed someone else, never led or had to find it myself. Thanks

Yeah chances are I'll be out with Andy on the night run, but wouldnt mind doing it again in the day for a bit of scenery

we'll be fine jo, as we all know it's not what you drive but how you drive and the only 1 time my pajero's been stuck was when the rear axle bottom'd out.

I want to do the Run on the 1st, but a day run. Perhaps we could meet about 10am at McDonalds Glyneath? Only a few miles from the start in aberdulais then.

I was speaking to one of the landowners today. He is of the opinion this may be the last year its open as there was alot of damage done last year when it was open, mostly due to the fact it was so wet. They also caught a soft top White Vitara trying to pull the rocks clear at the start a few weeks ago, i believe there were a couple other cars with them wanting to drive The Sarn starting from neath.
Needless to say they were sent packing but it has upset the landowners!

Thank god I am good friends with him, an old drinking buddy in our younger days!

I'm up for 10am on the 1st at McDs in Glyneath. As long as I can follow someone from there.

alan was saying it might be the last year, i went up there on 1 of the last days it didnt look that bad, i heard it closing for a different reason, anyway lets get out there and have ago, i should be up for that, i also belive that the bit with the steps are closed but the next section is still legal to drive, if we get time maybe do the 2,

Was intending to do it monday but coming back home yesterday my Vitara started making a funny ratlling sound from rear end, kind of if there was stone in a hubcap! It is shortly going for inspection to see whats wrong?

No, thats neath abbey Mcd.

Glyneath one is about another 7 miles up the road from there, the one off the roundabout by glynenath.

If I am going I can meet you at the neath a bbey mcdonalds and take you to where the lane starts though, f i am coming lol!
