Diff lock lever should move, probably needs a good clean.
Auto dip stick....replace it, vital fluid is correct level.
Engine, give it a proper service, filters, (oil, fuel and air) change engine oil.
Alarm...pass, try a new battery in fob? Check doors shut properly, nothing draining battery? i.e. interior lights?
I had a Disco, bag of s**t, but others are good.
Steering box...get a recon, or 2nd hand and recon yours, then recon 2nd hand 1, you'll always have a spare!!
Hope this helps.
Or just sell it and by a Kia!! lol!

Not too sure how to change the pipe as well as the dipstick.
The lever (diff lock) take off the cover inside the car, if you look down the lever and see if its covered in crap. I think there's a cover on the box as well, if so remove it and make sure the internals aren't covered in crap.
Often a build up of oil and muck cloggs the lever.
Not sure if i've got a disco book, but i've got a defender book if thats the same box.
I'm in Cardiff, where are you? If you need help I can pop up/over or you can come here. No garage tho, freeze outside, but plenty of tea/coffee.

a borg warner is fitted to range rover classics they have a viscous coupling instead of a diff lock so effectively its like a limited slip differential so no diff lock

jack one wheel up (handbrake on and tbox in neutral) and see if it spins freely or if there is resistance there is a certain ammount of times you should be able to spin the wheel in a min but cant remember how many or where i read it. i could also be making that bit up Very Happy

what happened to uve worked on loads of landys?

iv only work on old stuff 2 2as 3s m8 Very Happy i jack it up other dat to check wheel bearings and one wheel up and it wont spin at al turns a bit then stops Question if it has a borg in it thay not as good r thay wheels have to spin be for it kicks in witch is often to late

if it turns a bit then stops its prob because it was in gear put tbax in neutral some people like them some people dont obviously there not a good as a perm lock but as far as i know there is alot of resistance so personally i dont think there will be much in it IF the BW is in good nick my old man had a range with a BW on and AT and he was impressed how well it did off road

i think the ammout of times u can turn it in a min is only a had full of times so if ur spinning wheels chances are it will be spinning front and rear

if it turns a bit then stops its prob because it was in gear put tbax in neutral some people like them some people dont obviously there not a good as a perm lock but as far as i know there is alot of resistance so personally i dont think there will be much in it IF the BW is in good nick my old man had a range with a BW on and AT and he was impressed how well it did off road

i think the ammout of times u can turn it in a min is only a had full of times so if ur spinning wheels chances are it will be spinning front and rear
or if i remove the low high nob and gater and look in thear if thear is a lever that moves for the difflock the one that ceises up then it not bw box make sence Wink

The serial number will be stamped in one of 2 possible places, either on the bottom left of the main casing or on the earlier vehicles right at the bottom of the left hand side face of the main casing obscured by the exhaust pipe
