If you take a car in for an mot and it has, for example, 6 months MOT on it, and it fails, are you still legally able to drive it untill that MOT expires?
second question is, If, when you were given an MOT but it had advisories, do those advisories carry through to your next MOT?
in other words, if you took it to another mot station for your next mot, would the fact that the mot.s are now computerised, do the details follow the car around?

1 yes you are, just cus it failed it dosent cancel the valid mot
2. the advisories are work that in the opinion of the tester requires attention, and is not so bad that it will fail the mot, but by next year or sooner it could fail/deteriate/rot/wear/leak/stop working.
3. the only details that come up on the mot screen are the vin no, colour, engine size, how many seat belts that are being tested, and whether the vehicle has been damaged in any way (eg a write off),

if you want to print off any info from previous mots you will need to either have the test no or the v5c no, this is to stop people who have no interest in the vehicle gaining unauthorised info, so only genuine owners of said vehicle have access,
Mike if you have any further queries just drop me a line as i am a tester cheers Rodders Smile
