if the lights are on the bumper thay can be wired to the main beam via a relay if they are on the roof it must be on a swith as lights above 4foot are aginst the law and are for off road use only use a switch with a air craft cover so if you do get stoped you can prove that thay can't get it on by accident Smile

if thay on main beam got to be 55 watt to be legal unless you do want to blind evry one Very Happy but on a switch offroad use any watt you want like chriss said over 4 ft not legal any way so might as well go for big watt. on my jimny had 55 watt on main beam and 130 watt on roof was like day light at nite lol and a switch that light up is good idea so you dont for get thay on and get pulled by plod

Yeah I'll have to do it offswitch as they're on may bar anyway so if I wire them to an illuminated switch that would be legal then would it

I can comment on this i hope as i did a lot of research for putting mine on..

2 things, the lights MUST turn off when you only have dipped beam on, so they need to be wired into a relay that is powered via the high beam.. (you can have a switch too so when you do have high beam you can turn off the spots)

if you have to dip 2 lots of lights it will be an MOT failure

http://forum.difflock.com/userpix/7385_SJ_Spotlight_wiring_1.jpg (courtesy of difflock)

this image shows the wiring diagram at least for my suzuki, i am sure it will be something similar for most vehicles.. the switch needs to be put between relay pin 30 and 86 ( i would reccomend) or between 85 and the main beam circuit.

This will turn the lights on if you have full beam headlights on, and off if you turn to dipped
