Monroe or KYB shocks and springs?

Hi everyone   I would like your input as to which make of shocks and springs I could put on my freelander, as an upgrade from the originals?
My standard shocks are still useable, it's just a general upgrade, rather than full on off road spec replacement!
I've had a quick look online, and basic shocks and springs seem to be either the Monroe's or KYB's.....any thoughts???
Any suggestions,.........other than get a disco, or pajero etc,etc would be appreciated!
