Window tinting

Has anybody tried doing a bit of diy tinting. I wont some of me windows done but dont wont to pay. So im tempted to do a diy job of it. If you have given it a go is it hard i dont wont it to look shite.

apparently the roof windows r a pain in the arse if non of the others r

get a modelling knife and a squeegee like the window cleaners and a credit card to get the bubbles out cut it from the out side and that will fit the other side the windows get it wet as you can its not that hard did it on my 110 i had the hardest window is the top 1s on the discovery's give it a go and post some photos on the web site before and after have fun

Think i will give it a go tomorrow

take your time and take the door panels off when you cut it out side the drivers will fit the passengers don't forget clean the windows and when you start to stick it on don't forget to peal it open that's were the sticky part is ok take your time ok and keep it wet and when your sorted don't open your windows for a cupple of days

Will only be doing the boot section for now. If that goes well i will do rear doors. Dont wont it on front doors so wont be doing them.

I can see what price I can get one of my subcontractors in cardiff to do it for if you want. They do all my window films for clients, and also do automotive films.

Always worth an ask for discount prices

i used to work at a place that did it properly and had a go. it is a b45t4rd to do on curved glass.

this may sound silly but you can buy spray on window tint, i wouldn't recomend it for your side windows but it could be ideal for the roof ones.

as said take you time and cut it from the out side then trim if required on the inside. we used to use diluted baby shampoo on the window then put the tint onto that. with the baby shampoo you don't get soap suds and can easily move it around.

good to no those interesting fact, the more i here about tinting windows the more il just pay someone else to do it,

if they co+k it up they gotta redo it

window tinting is an art in itself, i have a good m8 who does it proffesionally and even he gets it wrong now and again.

some good advice been dished already, but dont get it as wet as you can, a liberal spraying of water out of one of those spray things that mr muscle and the like come in will suffice.

be very aware how dark you go also, i had the full rear of 1 of my trucks done in limo black and had a job to see out of the rear window, even in bright sunshine.

also dont tint the front windows as it is illegal to do more than manufacturers std tints (apparently)

my friend got done for it, the front windows can only blockout 30% of the sun light, or you get a £60 fine

what the cops told me as long as you can see what is in your door mirror its ok if you cant you got to take it off or they will book you

they got a small machine they carry now which they put to the window and i tells them on the % of light coming through, my mate had his tested when he got done in november, lol

i got pulled by the cops and that how they was testing it up with us and a cupple of my mates over tonypandy had the same test lol

taking fronts of mine,cant see a damn thing in the dark and its not because i'm a blind old git

they was illegal anyway

Will be leaving mine clear for now untill the weather gets warmer as it makes it a little easier apparently. Are the club stickers internal or external?

if u want em fitted, drop me a line....... i do all my cars, its a right tw@t on any curved glass..... give me a shout n we will have a cht.. i can get it cheap too from where i get all my stuff from . . . .

ahhh.. no, i think u r wrong here . . lol... i had the backs and rear quaters done in dark smoke....fronts were clear . . however, sometimes u can get away with light smoke at the front and it passes the test... depends on what brand of tint u use.....
