hi all i want to put my fourtraks fual tank in the back of the jeep in side as thear is no tank gaurd and is a bit low and dont want to bust it. it got a drain plug sticking out and looks like it could get snaped of at a look at a rock lol iv had a look and to make a tank gaurd would be a lot of work.id like to put it in rear and box it in with ply wood the filler neck would be in side to. asked one m.o.t man and he said its fine. but not sure. any one done this to thear 4x4 or got any info on me doing this would be a great help iv done it befor to an sj but i didnt care to mutch in them days lol Cool

I think you can do it with diesel, but petrol has to be a sealed tank or boxed in gas tight.
I would use steel rather than wood, if it leaks the wood saturates with diesel......a fire (i.e. wayward ciggy or welding sparks etc.) and you've got a slow burning, but difficult to extinguish car fire!!
You'll probably need the filler on the outside of the truck to avoid spillage and fumes....derv stinks!!
Like I said, I'm not 100% sure on this....google it??

well googled it cant find mutch may be its just me lol i think the boxing in with the wood is a no no didnt think about it soaking up fual and would buzz all the time thanks foxy didnt think of that Embarassed whot if i dont box in just leave it in the back i can just wipe up spilt fual then and just strap tank to floor Question

i got a 110 ltr lpg tank sat behind my seats .. dont like the sound of ply wood there .. i bolted some dexion shelf frames .. it's angle .. made the frame to suit ,, with chequer plate panels on it ,, can always hinge the top where u need to .. just get a couple of idea's first wouldnt recomend wood tho any leaks of spills it will soak it up and stink of diesel all time ..

no wood a no now would have been easyer to do lol chequer plate would look the dogs balls and like you say put a hinge in to get to tank if i need to. only prob is that stuff not cheap Neutral keep ideas comeing guys ill get thear in the end lol Very Happy
