Defender temp gauge

Hi I need help (my wife tells me that every day) Ive got a 89' 110 defender with a 300tdi engine in it that was buggered but is now fixed lots of swearing and skinned knuckles. The only prob is its still got the original temp gauge but I need a 200/300 tdi gauge as the one in it goes up to half way when I turn on the ignition so when it warms up its off the gauge.
So has anyone got a 200/300 tdi defender temp gauge part number AMR2631. have cash or disco bits to swap. Thanks.

if it's the water temp i think there is 2 or 3 different temp switch's just ask for a higher temp switch ..

the gauge and the sender have to be a matched pair so you'll either have to have the sender from the original engine plumbed into the 300 Tdi or a gauge from the 300 Tdi

PRC 6387 is (I think) the old sender, might be cheaper than the gauge.

Hi looking at sender units now, but Ive been told they are a different size thread so will order 1 and find out.

Problems solved fitted black Defender AMR 3321 sender unit instead of Disco one

that's interesting, does it have to be a black defender? what about the blue ones and the green ones? not to mention the white ones

Yep black ones are best cos the green one is for a Disco, but the Defender is green its all very confusing

Oh forgot my other Defender is white but that's a TD5 and the gauge works just fine haven't looked what colour the sender unit is, might have a look tomorrow.

it wont work on my green defender .. dunno why maybe cos it's a V8 .. should it be black it might work then ?

yes just get a bucket of black whitewash and it'll be a good'n.
