Subject: jeep cherokee xj off road ability stock Sun Sep 23, 2012 7:31 am
Hi all Looking at a 1996 stock 2.5 td sport tomorrow. Hoping to use it offroad as it is for a bit with just some more meaty tyres, just some green laning, light offroading. Will it be any good for that or should I forget it. Will be doing it up slowly I expect but not until next year. Opinions please and I know it won't be as good as a landy but they are a little out of my reach at the moment :-) Cheers Chris

The yanks use them and seen some nice mods on them but all depends what the prices are like think some of the boys have run them in the past on here

The guy that was in that one said it was something to do with auto locking front axle,it only locks in when the front wheels start spinning which by then your already stuck! Don't know if all models are the same though I've never had anything to do with them.

wont get that problem with a wrangler;-) ive been out with a few people with them 5 inch lift and 33's their just as good as anyother off roader if not better.

Cheers fellas, not so sure about it now LOL. Looked solid so I have put a bid in, be just over 600 quid if I get it. Will stick some pics up then. Should give me something to laugh about for a few months!

Well turns out the Cherokee was a pile of sh1te when I actually took it for spin so didn't go with that. It really was like driving in the movies, you could go inches either way with no movement from the car :-o
Soo bought a 2.5 lwb Pajero last night, anyone know about them? Sweet apart from the fact the overdrive doesn't engage.... doh!

Roger got one there is one on here with 4 inch body lift and a 3 on the suspension runing 35s
